Connecting Through Storytelling and Mental Health

At Calltime Mental Health, we believe storytelling can spark meaningful change. Stories create connection, challenge stigma, and open up the conversations the motion picture industry continues to have around mental health.

That’s why we’re proud to partner with Voices With Impact for the 2026 Voices With Impact Film Premiere on June 3, 2026.

Calltime Mental Health Society was created by a committee composed of representatives from BC’s six film sector unions: IATSE 891, ICG 669, Teamsters 155, UBCP/ACTRA, ACFC West Local 2020 Unifor, and DGC BC, alongside their associated health benefit plans. The six BC film union locals have generously provided the initial funding that made this initiative possible, demonstrating a collective commitment to supporting the mental health of workers across our industry.

This partnership with Voices With Impact reflects that same shared purpose.

Each year, Voices With Impact funds ten new short films inspired by real lived experience. This year’s cohort spans nine countries and explores topics including eating disorder recovery, grief, phone addiction, domestic violence, queer identity, gentrification, and the joy of transitioning.

These stories resonate deeply within our industry, where long hours, intense production schedules, and the emotional demands of creative work can impact mental wellbeing. The premiere offers an opportunity to come together, reflect, and engage in honest conversations about the realities many of us face.

On Tuesday, June 3, 2026, all ten films will premiere at the VIFF Centre, followed by a live Q&A with every filmmaking team.

Event Details

This partnership is about more than a single event. It is about creating spaces for connection, reducing stigma, and ensuring mental health remains part of the ongoing conversation across BC’s film industry.

We hope to see you on June 3 for an evening of powerful storytelling and shared community.
