Member and Family Assistance Program (MFAP) - Provided by Kii Health

Note: When you call, please identify yourself as having access to the MFAP through AFBS, and provide your name and date of birth. If a dependant is calling, they must provide your name and date of birth.

Kii Health available on the App Store and Google Play.
 

First-Time Online Access: Visit kiihealth.ca and set up a profile using your personal email address and a password. You will need an AFBS specific access code to log in.

Where to find your access code: On page three of your Members’ Insurance Program statement, under the “Important Information” section, you will see a Kii Health membership card. Look for your AFBS access code in the same location as the red box shown in the example below.

  • Access your statement by logging in to (or setting up) your Member Profile.

  • Or on the printed statement mailed to you in March.

About Program: For AFBS Members and their dependants, MFAP offers confidential, professional support for stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, insomnia, substance use, chronic pain/illness, and more. Choose short-term counselling or guided/self-guided CBT programs to build coping and resiliency skills. Learn more.

 

Eligibility: Available to Members and dependants who are insured for Extended Health Care benefits.

Addiction/Rehabilitation Programs & Treatment Funding

Funding/reimbursement for Treatment/Rehabilitation:
 

  • What is the benefit: Financial assistance for in-patient treatment at a facility recognized as a rehabilitation centre for the treatment of drug or alcohol addiction. Learn more.
     

  • Amount Available: Once-in-a-lifetime up to $10,000 for in-patient charges.Additional amount of up to a maximum of $500 is available for after-treatment follow-up when an invoice is submitted within six weeks of the conclusion of the treatment.
     

  • Eligibility & Terms: In good standing with AFBS for at least five years prior to making application.

Extended Health Benefits Specific to Mental Health:

What is the Benefit/Value: Reimbursement for regulated mental health practitioners such as Social Workers, Registered Psychologists (C.Psych, C.Psych.Assoc, R.Psych) that provide counselling services. The reimbursement amount depends on your Benefit Level. Click here for more details.

Eligibility: Members in good standing insured at the Bronze, Silver or Gold Level. Please contact AFBS if you are unsure of your Benefit Level prior to incurring the expense.

Weekly Total Disability Benefit

Short-term Disability Administered by: AFBS

Description of Benefits:

  • Weekly benefit amount: 60% of eligible ACTRA, UBCP/ACTRA and WGC earnings.

  • Maximum weekly benefit amount: $1,500. 

  • Maximum benefit eligibility period: 52 weeks. 

  • Waiting period before payments commence: seven days.


Eligibility: If you are insured at the Silver or Gold Benefit Level, you may be eligible for the Weekly Total Disability Benefit during periods of total disability. Contact AFBS for more details.
