MALE IDENTIFYING

About This Section

Let’s be honest, most people identifying  as men weren’t raised or trained to talk about mental health. And in a performance-driven industry like ours, it can feel like showing any emotional vulnerability means risking your next call, your reputation, or your role on the crew. Below are some resources to help you get you talking:

Resources

Last Updated: February 6, 2026

Men’s Resource Line

Call: 1 833 327 6367 (24/7 toll-free). Confidential support line for men seeking help with mental health, relationship, or personal challenges. Connects callers with a trained counselor who provides emotional support, non-judgmental listening, and guidance to appropriate resources. (Operated by FearIsNotLove, originally in Calgary, but toll-free available to all men in Canada.)

MindFit Toolkit (Canadian Men’s Health Foundation)

An online toolkit designed to address men’s unique challenges with stress, anxiety, and depression. Includes self-assessments, practical mental wellness tips, podcasts and articles tailored for men’s mental health. Also partners with TELUS Health to offer up to 3 free virtual counseling sessions for men without extended health coverage (limited-time offer, via app).

BC Society for Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse (BCSMSSA)

A specialized nonprofit therapy clinic serving male-identifying survivors of sexual abuse or domestic violence, offering professional one-to-one counselling and group therapy to help men heal from trauma.

HeadsUpGuys (UBC)

Online resource for men’s depression and suicide prevention, offering self-check tools, tips, recovery stories, and evidence-based articles. Provides a therapist directory and guides for men and their supporters (no direct counseling services).

Buddy Up

A men’s suicide prevention campaign that encourages men to “buddy up” and check in on each other. Provides an online toolkit, resources and activities to spark authentic conversations among men and their friends, aiming to reduce stigma and prevent suicide.

Canadian Centre for Men and Families (CCMF)

National hub for men’s mental health and social services, delivering programs for boys, men, fathers and families. Offers suicide prevention initiatives, fatherhood support groups, domestic abuse survivor programs, legal clinics, counseling, and peer support at regional centres (e.g. Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary).

Therapy for Men (Video Series)

Legend has it that men are much less likely than women to go to therapy. It’s time to move on and start believing that men can benefit from therapy too. In this 5-part video series, we’ll answer all your burning questions about therapy: what it is, how it can change your life and most importantly...how to get it.
